Changes to how we contact you
Please note that for the moment we are only sending out emails to tell you your reservation is ready for collection and welcome emails to new borrowers. Overdue reminders and due date reminders will resume soon. Falkirk Council IT are working to put these in place. Please continue to renew your items on the library catalogue or get in touch with your library.
Now that we’ve abolished library fines we will no longer be posting out overdue letters. If you wish to receive communications about your account, please share your email address with us. There is information on how to do this below.
Emails we will send about your account
If your email address is registered with Falkirk Libraries you will receive the following emails:
- An overdue notice when your items are 3 weeks late and again at 5 weeks late.
- A loan reminder 3 days before your items are due for return.
- A request notice to tell you when an item you have reserved is ready for collection.
- An account expiry reminder when your your library account is due to expire and needs to be renewed (we do this every 3 years to check that the information we hold for you is correct).
If you don’t have an email address
Requests: If you don’t have an email address, we will continue to telephone you when your items are ready for collection.
Overdues: Please check the date stamped onto your items when you borrowed them to see when they are due for return. If you are in any doubt, please call us and we can tell you about your loans.
You can log into the library catalogue with your library card number and PIN to renew and reserve items.
You can also ask a member of staff for a printed list of your items and their due dates when you borrow them.
How to share your email address with us
You can add your email address by logging into the library catalogue with your library card number PIN and visiting your My Account dashboard.
You can also ask for your email address to be added next time you are at the library when you present your library card. If you have lost your card, please be sure to bring some ID that features your name and address.
Finally, you can add your email address to your account by emailing libraries@falkirk.gov.uk. Please provide your name, library card number, address and date of birth.
