Would you like to make a difference to peoples’ lives by helping them learn to swim?
To become a swimming teacher you do not need a huge knowledge and background in swimming, it is more about making lessons fun and connecting with children and adults. Courses are now more practical with elements of training on poolside to develop skills as well as the theory elements. The Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) is the industry standard for those who want to teach unsupervised to groups of swimmers with a range of abilities. A practically-based course, the SSTQ will allow you to gain the necessary skills and experience before you progress to an aquatics working environment. It will support your ongoing learning and development, ensuring that you are fully prepared to deliver high quality lessons. With flexible teaching hours to fit around your lifestyle, you’ll enjoy the satisfaction of a work-life balance whilst teaching an incredible and important life skill. This course is partially funded with a high likelihood of gaining employment with Falkirk Council as a Swimming Teacher.
To participate on this course, you must:
• Be at least 16 years of age at the commencement of the course
• Be a member of Scottish Swimming or become a member prior to the course
• Ideally be attached to a swim school or club where you can practice skills learnt on course, Falkirk Council can assist with this.
